Seppeltsfield Gardens

Sophie Seppelt (Benno’s wife) was an amazing lady. In addition to 13 children who survived, she cooked 3 time a day for the over 100 Seppeltsfield employees, entertained royalty and heads of state, and still found time to establish a beautiful rose garden.

We aim to replant one- if you know anything about the original one please let us know. We have some pictures.

There are of course the 2000 plus date palms, mostly planted during the Great Depression out of gratitude by the Seppeltsfield employees who had been kept on by the Seppelts at great cost.

There are also such lesser known garden areas such as the Pine Forest and the Elm Walk. Please take a leisurely stroll through these and the rest of the extensive grounds. Anyone for Petanque? What about  a Kegelbahn?

Elm Walk
On a hot summer's day, the Elm Walk by the banks of the Greenock Creek is the coolest place to be at Seppeltsfield. The cork elms were planted by the Seppelt family in the c19 and today you can enjoy a glass of our very refreshing Glenpara Elm Walk Riesling...
