Seppeltsfield's Great Terraced Vineyard lies on the Western ridge of the Barossa and is one of the region's most prized viticultural holdings. Gnarled bush vines ranging from 60-80 years of age are planted in picturesque contours over a number of terraces, close to the banks of Greenock Creek and amongst ironstone, bluestone and quartz scattered soils. Yielding well-ripened, small-berried bunches, the Grenache fruit from the Great Terraced Vineyard has provided the back bone to many of Seppeltsfield's renowned Tawny (Port) expressions over many years. Careful vineyard management now also allows for most select parcels of Grenache from this vineyard to be reserved for the crafting of a small batch 100% varietal still wine.
Crafted without maturation in oak, this perfumed and fruit-dominant wine displays bright cherry and cranberry fruit with ripe, textured plum skin tannin.
Our 2016 Grenache was crafted without maturation in oak barrels, to maximise the wine's primary fruit characters and alluring aromatic profile.
